Iowa receiver Marvin McNutt has decided to return for his senior year of football, but it appears safety Tyler Sash is leaving.
Sash, an all-big Ten selection from Oskaloosa, told Matt Bowen of nationalfootballpost.com that he will enter the 2011 NFL draft.
Later, a Twitter page attributed to Sash announced he was leaving: “After much prayer and deliberation, I’ve decided now’s the right time to go to the next level. Thanks Hawkeyes for all of your support.”
Bowen, also a former Hawkeye defensive back, projects Sash to be pick in the middle rounds.
McNutt, meanwhile, informed coach Kirk Ferentz he will return to the Hawkeyes
“I was very happy to learn this morning of Marvin’s intentions to finish his career at Iowa as a senior next fall,” Ferentz said in a statement released Wednesday. “Marvin has done some tremendous things for our team the past several years and we anticipate him enjoying a very productive year as both a player and team leader in his senior year.”
McNutt led the Hawkeyes in receptions (53) and receiving yards (861) last fall. He had eight touchdown receptions and was named second team all-Big Ten by league coaches.
Still waiting on official confirmation on Sash’s departure, from the University.
