Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz said Tuesday at the Polk County I-Club’s annual spring fling at the 7 Flags Fitness Center in Clive that decisions could be coming soon about running back Adam Robinson and cornerback Willie Lowe.
Robinson was suspended for violating team rules before the Insight Bowl. The night before the game, the former Des Moines Lincoln star was charged with possession of marijuana.
“I’ve talked to his mom,” Ferentz said. “My No. 1 focus for him is to do well academically, and then we’ll see where it takes him.”
Is there a crack in the door?
“We’ll see where he’s at at the end of the semester, and we’ll go from there,” Ferentz said.
Lowe, who asked to be released from his scholarship after being stricken with rhabdomyolysis after a strenuous January workout, also is still in school.
“I spoke to him on the phone Sunday,” Ferentz said. “I think he’s coming closer to deciding what he wants to do.
“The door is still open, certainly. I think he needs to figure out what his next move is, what he wants to do.
“I’ve told him that we want him to stay and graduate from Iowa, but it’s entirely up to him.”
