Raise your hand if you think the Thanksgiving Black Friday game will be for the conference’s Legends Division title?
Now that you’ve got your exercise (or not), who wins and by how much?
Last year: 10-4, 6-2 in Big 12 Conference
Coach: Bo Pelini (30-12 in three seasons at school)
Key losses: CB Prince Amukamara, OL Ricky Henry, DL Pierre Allen, DB Eric Hagg, RB Roy Helu Jr., WR Niles Paul, PK Alex Henery,
Key additions: Nebraska recruited Jamal Turner as a quarterback, but quickly transformed the speedy Texan into a receiver. There, he replaces Niles Paul, among others, as Taylor Martinez’ deep threat.
Outlook: While Big Ten officials wanted Nebraska, they did the Cornhuskers no scheduling favors. They open the conference schedule at Leaders Division favorite Wisconsin, then finish the season against three potential toughies in the Legends – at Penn State, at Michigan and finally at home against Iowa on Nov. 25.
Player to watch: Don’t be surprised of tackle Jared Crick becomes a finalist for a national defensive player of the year award – either for the top overall defender or at least at his position. The 6-6, 285-pounder had 70 tackles, including a whopping 36 solos last season. He had 9 ½ sacks, and his 17 tackles for loss was second in the Big 12. He has 19 career sacks.
