The top three players on Iowa’s tailback depth chart at this time last fall now have all found new homes, the latest being the news of Adam Robinson’s transfer to Minnesota-Duluth.
“It’s finally over,” Robinson’s mother, Sally, said Monday. “We’re very impressed with the program.”
Robinson was No. 1 on the depth chart heading into 2010 Iowa fall practices. Brandon Wegher, who was No. 2, has transferrered to Iowa Western of Council Bluffs, and No. 3 Jewel Hampton is at Southern Illinois.
Robinson, Iowa’s top rusher last season with 941 yards and 10 touchdowns, was suspended from the team by coach Kirk Ferentz before last December’s Insight Bowl, then on the eve of the game, he was charged with possession of marijuana. He will sit out this season and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Minnesota-Duluth won the NCAA Division-II national championship last season.
