Now recruits are breaking recruiting news.
Iowa commit Laron Taylor tweeted Saturday afternoon that Delano Hill, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound safety, had picked the Hawkeyes.
Both were in Kinnick Stadium for the Spring Practice, and Taylor took a picture of Hill he posted online.
Hill is from Cass Technical High School in Detroit and is a three-star recruit according to Scout.com.
Taylor and Ruben Lile also are from Cass Tech and were in the 2012 recruiting class.
“They knew I was going to commit,” Hill told HawkeyeInsider.com. “I told them before we got here. They were really happy for me.”
Hill is the third member of the 2013 recruiting class.
DAVIS HAS QUICK RETURN: Receiver Keenan Davis, reported to have an undisclosed injury earlier in the spring, was on the field catching passes on Saturday afternoon.
Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz did report that freshman receiver John Chelf was out with a knee injury, and junior offensive lineman Casey McMillan had a sprained knee.
FUMBLES AND INTERCEPTIONS: The good news, the Iowa defense may be full of ball hawks. They came up with several turnovers Saturday afternoon.
The bad is that the turnovers came at the expense of the Iowa offense.
“Ball security is a huge issue,” Ferentz said. “If we don’t take care of the ball, we won’t win games.”
D-LINE IMPROVING: Ferentz said of the D-line right now, “We are not ready to go.”
But Ferentz said there are a lot of interesting stories. One is freshman Louis Trinca-Pasat, who said he was weighing in at 283 Saturday.
“We’re a young team and a lot of guys are hungry,” Trinca-Pasat said. “There’s a lot of opportunities everywhere.”
