Iowa cornerback Micah Hyde was named defensive back of the year by the Big Ten Conference Monday.
The senior was a consensus first-team all-conference selection by the coaches and media after recording 78 tackles, including 44 solos. He led the Hawkeyes with 14 pass break-ups, he forced two fumbles, and had one interception.
Hyde also recovered three fumbles, including one that was returned for a touchdown against Purdue.
Iowa center James Ferentz was a second-team selection by the coaches.
