IOWA CITY, Ia. – Eric May was honored with a bobblehead in his likeness Tuesday.

“They got the number right,” May said after Iowa’s 87-63 victory against South Dakota at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Bobbleheads are made for Iowa seniors each season. May is the lone senior on this year’s team. The first 1,500 fans throug

h the doors at Carver-Hawkeye Arena were presented with a May bobblehead.

“It’s cool to have something like that,” May said.

May looked to cap off his bobblehead celebration with a rim-rattling dunk in the second half. Unfortunately, the rim rattled but the ball didn’t go in.

“I didn’t get as much bounce as I thought I was going to,” May said. “I felt like I was jumping in sand or something. That’s how I want to attack the rim, attack hard. It puts pressure on defenses to either foul or get dunked on.”

May has decided to take a more aggressive approach to the game in his final months as a collegian.

“Just crashing the offensive boards, trying to affect the game that way,” May said. “Get second-chance points. It really changes the momentum of the game. Friday, when we play Iowa State, they’re a great rebounding team. That’s going to be a key, to get in there and affect the game with rebounds and second-chance points.”
