The Iowa women’s basketball team is ranked No. 24 in the latest Associated Press poll released this morning.
It’s the first time since 2011 that the Hawkeyes (16-5, 5-2 in the Big Ten Conference) have earned a spot among the nation’s top 25.
A 63-57 win over then-No. 23 Michigan on Sunday was Iowa’s sixth victory over a ranked opponent this season.
This week, coach Lisa Bluder’s team plays Thursday at Illinois.
“We’re playing very well right now and we have a lot of good weapons,” Bluder told reporters Sunday. ” I like the way our focus was (against Michigan)… and I think we will take good focus to Illinois. We’re going to need it.”
The Iowa State women (14-4) climbed to No. 23 in the AP poll after a road win at West Virginia.
