NEW YORK, N.Y. – Iowa’s basketball team got their first look at Madison Square Garden this afternoon with a shootaround.
The Hawkeyes meet Maryland at 8:30 p.m. today in the semifinals of the NIT. Baylor and BYU meet in the first game. All four teams didn’t have access to the Garden on Monday because of an NHL game between the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets.
As Iowa’s starters and top reserves stretched on one end of the floor, assistant coach Sherman Dillard put the scout team through some Maryland plays. Then, after the entire team got some shots up, Iowa walked through its game plan.
Iowa enters the game with a 24-12 record. Maryland is 25-12. The championship game is 8 p.m. Thursday.
