Brooks will wrestle at 84 kg on the men’s freestyle team. Athletes were selected to the team based on their performances at the FILA Junior World Team Trials, and the FILA Junior National Championships.

Brooks, who will be a redshirt freshman for the Hawkeyes in 2013-14, won the 84 kg title at the Junior World Team Trials. He battled through the challenge tournament before sweeping top-seeded Vic Avery in the finals. He also placed fourth at the FILA Junior Nationals.

The FILA Junior Pan American Championships is the first of two international events Brooks will compete in this summer. He and classmate Thomas Gilman, who won the 2013 Junior World Team Trials at 55 kg, will represent Team USA at the Junior World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Aug. 13-18.
