IOWA CITY — Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany likes having a football game scheduled for the Friday after Thanksgiving.
And by most accounts, Iowa and Nebraska like playing each other on that date.
But that doesn’t mean it’s set in stone.
“We like to use that Friday, if we can find a good game to put in it,” Delany said Thursday morning while visiting Iowa’s football practice. “Both Iowa and Nebraska have been willing to play it, and I hope they continue to stay flexible and open on it.”
The Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers will continue to meet on Black Friday though 2017, but Big Ten officials have been non-committal beyond that.
Wisconsin could become Nebraska’s regular opponent in the regular-season finale.
“I don’t really know where it goes in the future,” Delany said.
Delany went on to say the Big Ten will not schedule any Thursday night games.
