Iowa releases updated depth chart

[ 0 ] August 23, 2013 |

The latest Iowa football depth chart revealed a starting quarterback, and the front five who will protect him.

Conor Boffeli, a West Des Moines Valley alum, is listed as the starting left guard, after sitting out Saturday’s open practice with a minor injury.

He’ll be joined by left tackle Brandon Scherff, center Austin Blythe, right guard Jordan Walsh and right tackle Brett Van Sloten. Backup Andrew Donnal has moved from left tackle to right guard.

Other items of note:

*Kevonte Martin-Manley will return punts, replacing Micah Hyde. Jordan Cotton and Jordan Canzeri will return kickoffs. Cotton averaged 28.2 yards on 19 returns last season, including a touchdown.

*John Lowdermilk appears to have won a position battle with Nico Law at strong safety.

*Three former Hawkeyes will be in the broadcast booth when the Big Ten Network airs the game. Paul Burmeister will handle play-by-play duties, Chuck Long is the analyst and Danan Hughes is the sideline reporter.

*Fewer than 1,400 general public tickets remain. There are also tickets available for the Hawkeyes other six home games.
