Former Iowa quarterback Ricky Stanzi’s stay at his second NFL stop has been cut short.Stanzi was waived on Saturday by the Jacksonville Jaguars a month after he claimed off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs.
The three-year starter for the Hawkeyes was backing up Chad Henne for the last two weeks after an injury to Jacksonville starter Blaine Gabbert.
Stanzi was listed third on the team’s depth chart since his Aug. 27 move to the 0-3 Jaguars.
The 26-year-old has yet to play in an NFL regular season game. He signed a four-year contract with Kansas City in 2011.
