Columnist Pat Harty talks to Mr. Optimist and Mr. Pessimist about Saturday’s game

[ 0 ] October 19, 2013 |

HawkCentral.com columnist Pat Harty talks with Mr. Optimist and Mr. Pessimist after Iowa’s loss to Ohio State. Here’s what they had to say:

Mr. Optimist: There are worse things than losing to Ohio State by 10 points on the road.

Mr. Pessimist: The Little Caesar’s Pizza Bowl doesn’t even take into account moral victories.

Mr. Optimist: Iowa at least wasn’t burned by another fake punt today.

Mr. Pessimist: That’s only because Ohio State didn’t have to punt.

Mr. Optimist: Iowa sophomore quarterback Jake Rudock continues to impress, finishing with 245 passing yards against a solid Buckeye defense.

Mr. Pessimist: Ohio State junior quarterback Braxton Miller continues to win and is the latest dual-threat quarterback to shred the Hawkeyes.

Mr. Optimist: Northwestern is in a major funk after losing three consecutive Big Ten games and with its two star players on offense – quarterback Kain Colter and running back Venric Mark – nursing ankle injuries.

Mr. Pessimist: Northwestern could have comedian/alum Stephen Colbert play quarterback against Iowa and probably still prevail based on how the series’ history has gone.

Mr. Optimist: Iowa still has five games to play and only needs two more victories to become bowl eligible for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons under coach Kirk Ferentz.

Mr. Pessimist: Find a way for Iowa to play Purdue in each of the last five games instead of just once and then talk to me about bowl games.
