Depth chart: New starter at right defensive end and other changes

[ 0 ] October 21, 2013 |

Mike Hardy is listed as the starting right defensive end on Iowa’s football depth chart released today, replacing Dominic Alvis.

Alvis, a senior, injured his back in the first half of last week’s 34-24 loss at Ohio State. The Hawkeyes host Northwestern at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kinnick Stadium.

That was the only change in the starting lineup, though there was some shuffling at other positions. Jordan Lomax, who started the opener against Northern Illinois at right cornerback but was sidelined with a hamstring injury, was inserted as a backup to B.J. Lowery at left cornerback. He replaces Sean Draper, who is now listed as the backup to Desmond King at right cornerback.

Darian Cooper is now listed as a backup to Louis Trinca-Pasat at right tackle. He had been backing up Carl Davis at left tackle. Jaleel Johnson, who had been backing up Trinca-Pasat, is now behind Davis.

Nate Meier replaced Hardy as a backup to Drew Ott at left end. Meier remains No. 2 at right end as well.

On offense, Cole Croston replaces Ryan Ward behind Brett Van Sloten at right tackle. Croston, the son of former Iowa offensive lineman Dave Croston, is a redshirt freshman.

Jacob Hillyer is listed as the No. 2 wide receiver, behind Kevonte Martin-Manley. Hillyer had shared the backup spot with Jordan Cotton, who is still listed as Iowa’s kickoff return specialist.
