Ferentz shares thoughts on having two bye weeks

[ 0 ] October 22, 2013 |

IOWA CITY, Ia. — Kirk Ferentz was asked Tuesday what he thought about having two bye weeks during the season.

The Hawkeyes were off Oct. 12, and will be again Nov. 16.

“The first bye week actually came at a good time,” Ferentz said. “We had some injury problems, so it gave us a chance to maybe get some guys better able to practice and compete.”

Ferentz went on to say he’ll probably treat the second week slightly differently.

“You just figure out where you’re at as a team,” Ferentz said, “and try to do what’s best for the guys.”

What did Ferentz do when he had a free Saturday?

“Gave me a chance to get some stuff cleaned up in the morning,” he said, “and went to a granddaughter’s birthday party.

“So it was a pretty good day.”
