In what area does Ferentz think Hawkeyes are most improved?

[ 0 ] November 19, 2013 |

IOWA CITY, Ia. – Kirk Ferentz is a football coach who appreciates those who work in the trenches.

So when he was asked Tuesday which facet of his team has improved the most, Ferentz touted the defensive line.

They’ve recorded 17 sacks through 10 games, after making 13 all of last year. Opponents are averaging 130 rushing yards per game.

“We had a hard time against everybody last year,” Ferentz said. “We were just inexperienced. We knew that going in.”

Louis Trinca-Pasat has emerged as an anchor for the front four.

“He maybe personifies the whole group,” Ferentz said. “He’s playing pretty stoutly right now, gives us great leadership.

“I kind of think about him like I think about Matt Kroul, who flew under the radar.”

Trinca-Pasat has 24 tackles, including six for loss.
