Iowa football fans received an early Christmas gift Monday when offensive lineman Brandon Scherff told his hometown radio station he would stay for his senior season.
Randy Grossman, sports director for KDSN (107.1 FM) in Denison, conducted the interview with Scherff, the Hawkeyes’ starting left tackle who earned first-team all-Big Ten honors.
“Most (listeners) were super, super happy that he was coming back, strictly because Iowa is going to have a pretty good football team next year,” Grossman said.
There had been speculation Scherff could enter next spring’s NFL draft.
Scherff told Grossman he would take out an insurance policy in case of injury.
