Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery is optimistic that injured guard Josh Oglesby will return to action before the start of the Big Ten season, even leaving open the possibility that he could play in Friday’s game at Iowa State.
“I would be surprised if he wasn’t ready for (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) on (Dec. 22),” McCaffery said on today’s Big Ten Coaches teleconference. “He has an outside shot to play on Friday, but that might be pushing it.”
Oglesby, a junior guard, broke a bone in his right foot in practice Nov. 6. He had surgery two days later to insert a pin. Oglesby played in all 37 games last season, with two starts. He averaged 4.5 points a game.
