CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Theairra Taylor scored a game-high 17 points and No. 25 Iowa shot 56 percent from the field to post an 81-56 Big Ten women’s basketball victory over Illinois Sunday afternoon.
The Hawkeyes conclude the regular season at 23-7 overall and 11-5 in Big Ten play. Illinois is 9-20 and 2-14.
Iowa’s 23 wins lead the conference in overall victories and equals the highest total under coach Lisa Bluder. The Hawkeyes won 23 games in 2004-05. Iowa has won 20 or more games in six of the past seven seasons (the Hawkeyes won 19 in 2011-12).
Iowa will be the No. 5 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and play the Illini, the No. 12 seed, for a third time this season at 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The Hawkeyes, winners of 11 out of 14 since starting 0-2 in the league, are 6-2 in Big Ten road games.
Junior Samantha Logic passed Cara Consuegra (1997-2001) as Iowa’s all-time assists leader with 577. Logic finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Ally Disterhoft added 14 points, with Bethany Doolittle adding 11 and Melissa Dixon nine.
