DB Ruben Lile leaving Iowa football team

[ 0 ] March 17, 2014 |

Defensive back Ruben Lile has left the Iowa football program, according to a release issued Monday.

Lile, 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Detroit, Mich., was a freshman in 2013, playing in three games and making one solo tackle.

“Ruben expressed a desire to transfer closer to home,” Hawkeye coach Kirk Ferentz said in the statement, “and we will do all we can to help him with his request.”

Lile’s departure follows that of quarterback Cody Sokol, who transferred to Louisiana Tech.

“Cody has been a tremendous team member and we appreciate all his efforts on the teams’ behalf,” said Ferentz.  “Cody is a very good quarterback and we wish him the best at Louisiana Tech.”
