Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin is familiar with Big Ten basketball. He played for Gene Keady at Purdue, completing his career in 1994-95 with 1,666 career points.
Martin is also familiar with Iowa, Wednesday’s first-round opponent in the NCAA Tournament, because both teams were in the field at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas in late November.
“We’re playing against an Iowa team with a lot of parts,” Martin said today. “I had a chance to see them in the Bahamas. I’ve watched a lot of Big Ten Network games so I’ve seen them there. Those guys are one of the best transition teams in college basketball.”
