Tickets running short for practice at Valley, plus free clinic for coaches

The Iowa football coaching staff will hold a mini-clinic Saturday at the Valley Community Center, as part of their visit to West Des Moines for an open practice.

Kirk Ferentz will be the headliner, as well as his assistants.

The clinic is free for all high school coaches and will be held from 9:45 a.m. to noon. The Community Center is located at 4444 Fuller Road in West Des Moines. No pre-registration is required, and coaches can sign in Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.

The clinic will take place before Iowa’s open practice at Valley Stadium, which is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Saturday is the midway point for spring practices, and the Hawkeyes are visiting West Des Moines for practice for the second straight year.

There is no admission fee for the practice, but tickets are required and less than 500 remain. After 4 p.m. Tuesday (April 8), all remaining tickets for the event will be available at the Hy-Vee Food Store location at 555 51st Street in West Des Moines.

Iowa will conclude spring drills with the annual spring game at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes open the 2014 season August 30, hosting Northern Iowa.
