OSKALOOSA — Former Iowa Hawkeye football player Tyler Sash pleaded not guilty this morning to charges of first degree public intoxication and interference with official acts.
Sash was arrested early Saturday morning after leading Oskaloosa police on a chase on his motorized scooter and on foot, officials said.
He did not appear in court today, and no trial date was set, a staff member from the Mahaska County Clerk of Court said.
According to an Oskaloosa police report, Sash led officers on a four block chase around 1:30 a.m. Saturday before he left his scooter and ran into a wooded area. Police said they found Sash hiding behind a tree and shocked him with a stun gun after he refused to come out.
Sash was taken to the Mahaska County Jail. He has since been released.
The Des Moines Register requested dash cam video of the chase as well as police radio traffic recordings related to the incident from Oskaloosa police. Chief Jake McGee cited the ongoing investigation as reason for not releasing the recordings.
The case is currently in the county attorney’s hands, and there is no estimate of when the video or audio recordings will be released, McGee said.
