Four-star recruit showed interest in Iowa, but …

[ 0 ] June 3, 2014 |

There is a good chance Jashon Cornell will end up signing with a Big Ten school, but it’s unlikely that it’ll be Iowa or his home-state Minnesota Gophers.

Cornell, a four-star defensive end from St. Paul, Minn., told Scout.com that his top schools were Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and UCLA.

Cornell called Michigan State his leader after a visit this spring, but the Buckeyes appear to be closing the gap.

“They’re issuing a big challenge right now,” Cornell said of Ohio State.

Iowa was one of the first schools to offer Cornell a scholarship. The high school senior-to-be had been listing the Hawkeyes among his top schools until recently.
