Las Vegas is high on the Hawks.
The Golden Nugget, traditionally one of the first establishments annually to establish betting lines for college football, revealed Friday that Iowa is a 9 1/2-point favorite to beat Iowa State on Sept. 13 in Kinnick Stadium.
Don’t, however, bet your mortgage. Iowa State was an early four-point favorite to win its third game in a row in this series last season – and that game resulted in a 27-21 Iowa win at Jack Trice Stadium.
Betting lines – and favorites to win – will change between now and the last week of August, when most college football teams begin their 12-game regular-season schedules.
The Golden Nugget established early lines on 200 college games. Here are their entries for Iowa State and Iowa:
Sept. 13: at Iowa (Iowa favored by 9½)
Nov. 1: vs. Oklahoma (Oklahoma favored by 22½)
Nov. 29: vs. West Virginia (pick ’em)
Sept. 13: vs. Iowa State (Iowa favored by 9½)
Nov. 8: at Minnesota (pick ’em)
Nov. 22: vs. Wisconsin (Wisconsin favored by 6)
Nov. 28: vs. Nebraska (Iowa favored by 1)
