Iowa is returning to the National Duals – and the National Duals are returning to Iowa.
After a one-year absence from the event, the Hawkeyes roll out their home mats on Feb. 15 for the National Duals Regionals and play host to the championship a week later in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The dual event, which hasn’t been held in Iowa City since 1999, will give Iowa’s fans an opportunity to see how their team stacks up against national powers in Iowa City.
Most of Iowa’s marquee duals, however, come during a rugged schedule away from home. The Hawkeyes wrestle road duals against the programs that finished first, second and third in March at the NCAA Championships – Penn State (Feb. 6), Minnesota (Feb. 1) and Oklahoma State (Jan. 11) – as well as an Ohio State (Jan. 4) squad expected to contend for the national title. Iowa also will visit Big Ten newcomers Rutgers (Jan. 2) and Maryland (Feb. 8).
Duals with Iowa State (Nov. 28), Illinois (Jan. 16) and Michigan (Feb. 13) highlight the six-event regular-season home schedule.
