Alabama’s Ross Pierschbacher breaks into two-deeps

Former Cedar Falls all-stater Ross Pierschbacher, who originally committed to play football at Iowa before signing with Alabama, has made an immediate impact as a true freshman.

The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Pierschbacher is listed as the Crimson Tide’s backup left guard behind Arie Kouandijo for Saturday’s opener against West Virginia in Atlanta, Ga.

According to the Montgomery Advertiser, Pierschbacher was originally playing at left tackle behind Cameron Robinson, a 6-6, 323-pound freshman. But coaches decided against having two freshmen at one spot. So Pierschbacher was moved to guard behind Kouandijo, a senior.
